Apple Pay is a digital payment system created by Apple Inc. It allows users to make payments with their iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch. The app uses a virtual debit card number instead of your actual credit or debit card number, so your information stays safe.
To use Apple Pay, you first need to add your credit or debit card to the app. You can do this by opening the Wallet app on your iPhone and tapping the plus (+) sign in the upper-right corner. Then, enter your card information and tap "Next."
To make a payment, simply hold your iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on the Touch ID sensor. The payment will be processed automatically and you'll receive a confirmation on your device.
If you're using an iPad or Apple Watch, you can also use Apple Pay to make in-app purchases. Just select the Apple Pay option at the checkout screen and place your finger on the Touch ID sensor.
Apple Pay is accepted at millions of stores around the world, including popular retailers such as Best Buy, Whole Foods, Macy's, McDonald's and more. There are also apps that accept Apple Pay, so you can use it to buy things online.
Apple Pay provides additional security by adding your card number to the device itself instead of storing it on Apple servers or sending it with each transaction. In addition, Apple says they don't track where you're shopping and what you're buying.
There is a downside to using Apple Pay: it doesn't work everywhere like your regular credit or debit card. So if there's a store that doesn't accept mobile payments, you'll want to keep your plastic credit or debit card on hand.
Also, not all credit cards are compatible with Apple Pay. For example, American Express only allows its cardholders to make payments through its app.
Apple Pay is available on iPhone 6s or later models, as well as the new line of iPhones expected to be released in 2017. It's also available on iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad Mini 3 or later. You can also use Apple Pay on your Mac with the Safari browser.
The Bottom LineApple Payallows you to make payments online and in-stores by simply holding your iPhone near a contactless reader with fingerprint authentication. It's an easy way to protect your credit or debit card information without having to carry it around.
